Should you avoid dairy products? Milk and other similar products have been on our diet for a long time. It is kind of funny that some dieticians advise us to ditch them now.
So what’s wrong with dairy? Some people are already removing it from their diet. I guess they have solid grounds to do so. Let’s understand how dairy can be a nuisance to our health.
Reason #1 Milk Is Linked To Cancer
Cow milk contains high level of estrogen and pregesterone. In some countries where they need the cows to be slaughtered in the shortest time or higher milk production , they will be injected with Bovine Growth Hormone. Actually we are drinking bovine.
All these hormones are linked to breast and prostate cancer. Particularly for Bovine, it is also shown to be responsible for other diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and men’s boobs (gynecomastia ). Scientists believe these diseases are the result of IGF-1 which is triggered by Bovine.
The protein (casein) in the milk is believed to cause cancer and other chronic diseases. One study indicates that casein stimulates cancer growth in all stages. If we remove casein from our diet, we can keep the amount of cancer growth under control.
The dairy milk will make its way into our bloodstream. However, our immune system considers casein as an intruder. As a response, it attacks the protein. The immune cells will remember the protein. If the protein appears again, the immune cells can act faster.
But our existing proteins share some resemblance with casein. The immune cells can’t tell the difference. Relying on its memory, they attack our natural proteins. In other words, our body attacks itself.
Reason #2 Calcium In Milk Is Good For Us
When we were young, we were told that milk was good for us because of its calcium content. If we want stronger bones, we need to drink milk. Otherwise, we would end up with osteoporosis later in life.
When the study from the Harvard Nurses’ Health Study was published, the truth was revealed. Dairy consumption could not protect our bones from the risk of fracture.
Reason #3 Our Body Cannot Digest Lactose Properly
During the digestion of lactose or milk sugar, lactase is required. However, when we turn 2 which is about the time we stop breast feeding, our bodies lose lactase naturally.
Since we have been drinking milk from that time onwards, we fail to realize that our bodies lose the capacity to break down lactose.
You have heard about people who cannot drink milk because they have lactose tolerance. In reality, all adults are intolerant.
Now it should become clear to you why adults suffer cramping, bloating, nausea, flatulence and diarrhea. This is because they have gas in the colon due to the undigested milk sugar as their bodies don’t have lactase to help in the digestion.
Reason #4 Milk Can Make You Fat
In the first place, what is the purpose of milk? For babies, they needed milk to grow. For an eight pound newborn, feeding on human breast milk can help the newborn to grow into a 24 pound toddler. So, breast milk fattens babies up.
What about cow’s milk? This is getting interesting. A 90 pound calf can become a 2000 pound cow just by drinking cow’s milk.
That is about 22 times more compared to 3 times more for human milk. It makes sense because cows are larger than us. So, there is no doubt that it is more fattening with dairy milk.
So for you out there who want to lose fat, why would you drink cow’s milk which will make you fat in a very short time?
Reason #5 Milk Does Not Help Your Skin
Dairy is one the culprits for skin problems such as acne and eczema. You can blame it on IGF-1, the bad hormone I mentioned earlier. Drinking milk encourages the production of sebum, and this can cause your pores to get clogged. A perfect culture for P. acnes bacteria.
If you want healthy skin, stop drinking milk.
