Hemochromatosis, Iron Overload And My Life

Last year I spent several months with extreme pain in my legs and feet. After visiting a number of doctors I was diagnosed with hemochromatosis, a condition where my body absorbs much higher levels of iron than the average person and causes an overload. My iron level was more than 500 time that of a normal person. The only treatment for this was weekly blood draws until my iron level was back in a normal range, then to keep things in check 4 to 6 blood draws a year for the rest of my life.

It didn't seem right to me that there was nothing else I could do so I started looking for another solution. After a great deal of research I was introduced to a new idea for for preventing iron overload. this idea is based on using supplements rich in calcium and magnesium which are designed to improve bone strength but also prevent the over absorption of iron into the bone marrow where blood is produced. I continued with the blood draws but also started using the supplement and made some small changes to my diet. I got almost immediate results. The first positive signs were that the doctors commented on how my levels were dropping faster than expected and within a couple weeks the pain started to subside. Within a month of starting this program I was back in the normal range and I was back on my feet living life. For a short time I still had some discomfort but it didn't really slow me down & now I'm pain free.

I have gone over 4 months without a blood draw and the last time I had my levels checked my Iron had not only stabilized but gone down a little on its own. As great as modern medicine is I feel that there are times where looking for natural solutions that put our bodies back in balance are the best.

I found myself telling people about my experience all the time. I felt this was a better way to find people with the same condition and share my story so here I am. If you have hemochromatosis I would suggest looking at this treatment. It really works.
